7th PHS High School Debate Challenge

7th PHS High School Debate Challenge On Monday 2nd of July 2018, Panyarat High School hosted a debate event called “PHS High School Debate Challenge” There were students, alumni, and teachers from the participating institutions including Assumption College, Patumwan Demonstration School, Suranee Wittaya School (Korat), Samsen Wittayalai School, Triam Udomsuksa, Thammasat University, MUIC, Chula University, and Syracuse University NY. The motions was “THW ban self-driving cars. THBT the freedom of press does more harm than good.”

The 7th Thailand World Schools Debating Championships

The 7th Thailand World Schools Debating Championships occurred at Panyarat High School on February 10-12, 2018. With over 20 institutions and 150 participants, the students battled in the World Schools debating format over five preliminary rounds. The motions involved economics, politics, social justice, and myriad other -themes.

Our Matayom One students participated as judges earning distinctions:
– Tienwadee Tungkaplin earned Tenth Best Adjudicator
– Jasmine Soo took home the Eleventh Best Adjudicator.
– Thumma Srithavaj Na Ayudhaya judged the Grand Finals.

PHS 1 with Romtam Kangsawiwat, Thittiporn Siripowsuwunkul, and Wiracha Veerakachen made it to the Semifinals losing to the eventual champions of the tournament from Ekkamai International School. Wiracha is a matayom one student.

PHS 2 with Chyna Denise Tan, Bhornbijja Boonasasakul, and Arnencha Pradabkaew finished the preliminary rounds 4-1, beating the second place team of upper school. They made the semifinals of the Junior High School Break.

KOK-Arnencha Pradabkaew won Third Best Speaker of the Tournament while TAMMY-Bhornbijja Boonasasakul won Seventh Best Speaker of the Tournament. Congratulations to all teams.
